Protein Folding by Design

The topic of the origin of life on Earth is one that has attracted significant attention from scientists for centuries. Since the mid-19th century, the debate has revolved around two main theories – evolutionary theory and intelligent design. While evolutionary theory posits a gradual, step-by-step development of life on Earth through natural selection, intelligent design proposes that life was created by a higher power.

The Magic of Evolution is “Time”.

If there was only enough of it

This paper seeks to demonstrate that intelligent design is a more likely reason for the origin of life on Earth and defines the source of Abiogenesis. Based on evidence from Levinthal’s Paradox, System Coherence with Biological Systems, and Irreducible Sophistication of molecular machines, these are perfect starting points to get familiar with Intelligent Design. This is just an appetizer; you would do well to go for the full meal deal.

Levinthal’s Paradox

Levinthal’s Paradox is a paradox first proposed by molecular biologist Cyrus Levinthal in 1969. The paradox states that in order for a protein to fold into its correct, functional three-dimensional structure, it must explore all of its possible conformations. Based on the speed that proteins typically fold, this would require an unfathomable amount of time. Therefore, Levinthal concluded that some form of guidance must be present for the proteins to fold efficiently. This argument is a strong indication that intelligent design, rather than natural selection, is the more likely explanation for the origin of life.

System Coherence with Biological Systems

When examining biological systems, it is clear that there is a high degree of coherence and complexity throughout the systems. This suggests that the systems are not the product of random mutations and natural selection, as evolutionary theory would suggest, but rather the result of intelligent design. It is highly improbable that such a degree of complexity and coherence could have arisen spontaneously through natural selection.

Irreducible Sophistication of Molecular Machines

Molecular machines are incredibly sophisticated, capable of carrying out complex tasks with remarkable accuracy and efficiency. These machines, which are composed of multiple proteins, are capable of carrying out basic cellular functions such as replication, transcription, and translation. The level of sophistication of these machines is far too great to have arisen through a series of random mutations and natural selection. This suggests that they are the result of intelligent design.

Conclusion

This paper has demonstrated that intelligent design is more likely to be the origin of life on Earth than evolutionary theory. This conclusion is based on evidence from Levinthal’s Paradox, System Coherence with Biological Systems, and Irreducible Sophistication of molecular machines. While the debate between evolutionary theory and intelligent design is likely to continue for many years to come, the evidence presented in this paper strongly suggests that intelligent design is the more likely explanation for the origin of life.
